The Product: It’s the journey, not the destination that matters. Showcasing the process of Mayan weaving, this unfinished piece has the hand-turned dowels still connected to the thread. Custom framed in 1/6″ acrylic on custom linen fabric with a french cleat hanging system.
The Story: Created on a backstrap loom, this weaving technique has been used for over a thousand years. The loom ties around the weaver’s waist on one end while wrapping around a tree on the other – connecting the artist to the land while weaving. The terra cotta and indigo colors are natural dyed and the pattern represents vitality, wisdom and protection.
